Chris received his BS degree in Biology from Belmont Abbey College, received his Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Utah, and did his post-doctoral research at the University of Georgia. Currently, he is a Lecturer of Behavioural Genetics in the Department of Biosciences at Swansea University. His research program focuses on understanding the genetic control of social behaviour, in particular the genetic control of parental care. Chris firmly believes that biological phenomena can only be understood using interdisciplinary research. More broadly, Chris endeavours to be a champion of basic research, helping the public understand the enormous benefits it has produced for society and human health.
