Gabor obtained MAs in French and in Cultural Anthropology at ELTE University, Budapest. After that, he embarked on two PhD programmes at the same time, one in French Literature (ELTE University) and one in History (EHESS, Paris). After teaching in Hungary for two years, he was a post-doctoral researcher on two travel-related digital humanities projects in Galway, then spent 18 months teaching in Cyprus, before coming to Aberystwyth.
Gabor specializes in the cultural, literary and intellectual history of travels and travel literature, particularly in the early modern period. He is eager to explore the multiple ways various cultures “think the world” and move in it.
