Karin holds an MA (Hons) in English and French as well as a PhD in Victorian Literature from St Andrews University. She now works as a lecturer in Nineteenth-Century Literature at Bangor University. Karin’s research explores how literature interacts with media, technologies, and networks of communication.

Her current project focuses on the relationship between nineteenth-century poetry and Victorian communication methods, especially the postal service and telegraph system. It suggests that Victorian poetry is an important untapped resource that can help us understand the role(s) of communication media, infrastructure, and technology in shaping modern culture and society.

Karin is passionate about exploring the implications of her research in relation to current challenges, particularly the social and cultural impacts of changing technologies and infrastructural development.
