Nilufar obtained her BA in Psychology at Swansea University and went on to complete an MSc in Applied Psychology at the University of Surrey. After a spell in the community sector working as a mental health professional setting up culturally sensitive mental health services across London, she returned to academia and was appointed Research Fellow at Keele University, exploring the lives of first generation migrant women in London. She went on to work at Queen Mary University and St George’s University. She returned to Swansea to complete her PhD which was a ten year follow up of the Keele Study. This was published as a book by Routledge in February 2016. Nilufar is currently Senior Research Officer in the Department of Public Health, Policy and Social Sciences at Swansea University. Her research interests include ethnicity, mental health, ageing, place, identity and Muslim communities in the UK.
