In January 2017, the Welsh Crucible will open its call for applications for its seventh year.
Thirty successful applicants will be selected to take part in three two-day intensive workshops (called ‘labs’) across Wales during the summer of 2017. Participants are required to commit to attending all three labs as a condition of receiving a place on the Welsh Crucible programme. The labs will be residential events for all participants, regardless of location.
Lab 1 – Cardiff – May 25th and 26th 2017
Lab 2 – Aberystwyth – June 15th and 16th 2017
Lab 3 – Swansea – July 13th and 14th 2017
Each lab will bring together researchers from institutions across Wales with inspiring guest speakers, and a calendar of seminars, skills sessions and informal discussions.
The programme is designed to help participants:
– develop links and networks within the research community, Welsh Government, the National Assembly for Wales, and the Welsh media;
– find new ways of thinking and working and improve their effectiveness both within and beyond their organisation;
– develop skills in public engagement, and explore how they can interact more effectively with the media and policy makers
– learn about different areas of research and encourage personal and career development.
